I remember trying to change mine, it was horrible so I gave up and got an s2000 antenna instead. But maybe I'll give it another try.

I could've used this info just last week, after I purchased a new antenna mast ($40 dollars) for my 93 Accord SE and couldn't get it to "feed" back in automatically like the guy at Honda Parts told me it would. So I took it to a local audio & alarm installation shop here in Tijuana, and the guy took everytying apart, and finally got the new mast installed (the reason was that the mast lead had also broken into itty-bitty pieces inside the gear). It's working perfectly now, and the guy only charged me $100 pesos (about $11 dollars). Still, I would've liked to have solved this problem all by myself.

Very common problem, at least with 4th gen. I remember mine craping out on me, and the aftermarket one I bought never did fit right, with the angle of the quarter panel where the antenna goes.
