Like the title says. Just wanted to get some opinions on this for a HONDA application. I have seen STI's and stuff use a SC to spool a larger turbo but never really seen one in application on a honda.

Is this a good idea? If not, why?

To me it would make sense, the SC covers the lowend power and then the turbo takes over like the last 3/4 of the rpm range with some really high boost..?

Check that thread out on evom. That guy is doing it and it's been a long process and not very easy. I would only reccommend doing it if you're an engineer or know one. Plus make sure you have loads of money. I can't even begin to imagine how much that guy has in the car.

what about trying to spool a smaller turbo, that would spool a larger one?

Dual-Sequential Turbo. I prefer doing it this way also.

I would hate to have something stop the flow of air coming into the intake side of the motor. I mean turbo forced air, being forced into the supercharger, then forced again? Wouldnt there be MAJOR back pressure doing SC/Turbo setup..? Maybe thats wht hes Losing 50whp up top.

Do a large turbo! then a downpipe to another smaller turbo? Maybe the smaller turbo will help force the air in quicker and earlier? Create Early spool with the small turbo and Top end will come after with the larger turbo??

There was a guy on turbomustangs.com running a T66 and a T88 on his car. It was professionally built, hard to tune, and ran slower than a single T76 P-trim on a conventional setup. I think it's a waste of time, personally. KISS!

 

What's the point of doing this? Hondas don't have **** for traction down low, so it would be a bad idea to give it more power at lower rpms. When your racing your rpms never drop low enough to where it would even matter. When I am at the track I launch at redline, when I am street racing I launch around 4,000 rpms, and my rpms never drop below that. If you want to do this to be different then more power to you, but it you think it will make your car fast than a single turbo setup, think again.

I agree it helps, but an LSD won't do anything with the kind of power your talking about.

True. LOL. Maybe someone buy that REAR wheel drive integra? and do it?

 

The setup isn't better than a turbo by itself for drag racing, just get a big turbo and launch it at 4000-6000 RPM if you're only looking to race in a straight line. It's good for road course and rules the world at autocross, my car never lost an event with that setup on it. I'm still tinkering with it, got a new diverter valve assembly that I'm trying for it and some reed valves to get rid of the inlet restriction from sucking air through the turbo compressor.
