Default b16a tranny fluid is red?

just got my b16 with Y1 LSD tranny and I went to drain the tranny and the fluid was this super thick red stuff. I thought people just put 10W30 into their trannies. What type of tranny fluid was that in my tranny? What should I replace it with?

its ATF(automatic transmission fluid). nothing to worry about. alot of people run ATF in their manual trannys. i do.

i was told that using synthetic or anything else other than normal 10w 30 would do some damage to your gears. that is what derrick from jspec jdm told me.

I would recommend the genuine Honda manual tranny fluid. Honda makes the **** for honda transmissions, why use anything else?

From what i've heard, Honda MTF is basically just synthetic 30w oil with a few anti-friction additives. Thats what i use, works good.

It's not running straight oil because of the LSD, go to honda and pick up some fluid from them, it's designed to work with factory LSD's.

One word for all of you .......

Synchroshift ........

You'll never go to any other manual tranny fluid after that.

A lot of people do NOT run ATF in their manual trannies. If you run ATF in your tranny you will get messed up synchros. The red tranny fluid was probably some aftermarket fluid. I know that Redline MTF is red, maybe that was the stuff that was in there.

i run Mobil One Synt. 10W30 in my tranny..and it has worked great with all my hondas i have had...and sometimes a little friction addivte...never had a LSD though but i heard there is a thing called LSD additive you can pick up at any local auto parts store..as far as ATF i dont know but that seems like it might not work that great..who knows???
