b18a1 oil pan gasket alternatives?
this is gonna be the second i bought its a molded rubber and i can't even come close to torque down the bolts to the specs... are there any cork or any with the metal ring in them i would use?
none of those... everytime i tried to torque the bolts to spec LBS, the gasket broke and squish down way to much ... and the only other alternative i can think of is a quark gasket with a metal ring in the holes... the molded ruber ones seem like ****...
i used my buddies that i know isn't off... and mine they both did the same... and i don't wanna break this one because everytime i need a gasket the parts dealer has to order it and thats just another wasted day ... any other gaskets... other than the molded rubber?????
wrist tight + 1/4 turn
how many ft lbs do you torque them too? what size torque wrench are you using? for the oil pan bolts i would use a 1/4" or 3/8" tq wrench that reads inch pounds.

the acura book specs to in one section to 16 then another at 8 and either i broke the gay gasket i am using a 3/8 torque wrench that sets to 7lbs _> a lot lol

I always do mine by hand, tightened by hand with an extention and socket then another 1/2 to full turn (depending on my mood). I haven't had one crush/leak yet.
If you are set on doing it to torque, try a needle type instead of a clicker type.
