synthetic oil to conventional oil
Miles? A lot of poeple say it's not good to switch back and forth as it's hard on the seals.
It's kind of a matter of preference though, whether or not you believe it will hurt anything and whether you're willing to risk it.

I guess I should take the guys word, and stick with synthetic. Is there any particular synthetic which is not very expensive I should use ?

Stick with Mobil 1 if he had no problems. I swear by that stuff. I suppose you could do a 50/50 of synthetic/conventional and wean down from there.
Ok, I don't want you guys to think I'm cheap
The thing is, judging by the title, this guy had the car for maybe a year.
There is no way of know whether or not he used synthetic correct ???
I have read that going to syn. after a life of conventional, is just as bad as the other way around.
If I seafoam the motor, could I then go to conventional with out possibly coming up with problems?
Thanks,
Joe

why doesn't this thread just stop. put whatever oil you want in the car, I'm sure it's not going to make a difference. it's your car, make your own decision. on honda-tech you are going to just get biased opinions with questions like this.
You can switch back, you'll be fine. There's no problem with seal compatability on modern engines.
You also don't need synthetic in your car, or to change the oil more than is specified in the manual. I have data to show it, but nobody seems to care about that and just argues back and forth or spewing how they love synthetic.

yes, switching has shown to cause damage on the seals.

this has got to be the dumbest thing ive heard all day, and lucky for you its the beginning of the day.
price doesnt always have a positive correlation to quality...and keep it synthetic? synthetic is not always the best...do some research and you will find that out
if the engine has always been on conv. oil then keep it on conv. oil, same for synthetic...like as the dude before me said the best thing to do is ween it because i switched twice
(from conv. to syn and then back to conv.) and im leaking oil from bout everywhere i can

well he did say new del sol, but i wouldnt necesarly say its a modern engine...and i know for sure my z6 is havin some seal problems cause the switch in oil

Well, modern as in not carburated and developed after synthetics to be compatable.

What I've seen happen, is when someone uses conventional for a long time, and doesn't maintain the car properly. Somewhere down the road, they decide to use synthetic, which cleans all the sludge from the engine, and could possibly cause leaks.
The leaks would have happened anyway, synthetic just accellerated the process. If your seals are bad, they will eventually leak regardless of what type of oil you use; but the leak gets blamed on the oil anyway.

Well my engine hasn't cheaped out yet after 251,000 miles on conventional oil, so I'd have to say that synthetic is a waste of money.

Heres your answer - use whatever you want.
You can go back and forth all you want.
