D16Y8 problem! motor shakes at 55 mph....
ok well this morning i was driving my car, as to yesterday it was running JUST fine...i have a check engine light and have had it checked out. its my o2 sensor, i have a test pipe and no holes for the o2. But anyway this morning i was driving and my car started to shake..weid but if i go below 55 mph it just kinda stutters! I am stuck to where i dont know if its the spark plugs or if its my motor. when it shakes the engine light doesn't blank or anything it stay light as it did before! so can anyone here help me? I have iriduim plugs and they are about 2 1/2 yrs old or so, can it be that? If it was my motor would't my engine light start blanking, and if it was my motor how come it runs smooth at idle and anything under 50 mph? HELP!!!!

My friend's 98 sedan would do the same. He hydrolocked the car in the past, and magically it still runs now... But on really wet days, the car sputters like that under 3k rpm until it has been driven for a while.... never thought too much about it (cuz it is not my problem), but would like to know if anybody knows about this.
the speed issue kinda makes me wonder if you just have an out of balance tire or something?
does it run smooth in 1st gear from idle to redline? A distributor/ign problem would make itself evident somewhere inbetween there.
does it happen at 55mph in 3rd gear 4th gear and 5th? what about nutral at 55mph?
Try to isolate the problem between motor/tranny/chassis

You may want to clear up your CEL first too.

Simple, because I don't think it has anything to do with your engine. Also, the check engine light doesn't just come on and flash when there is a problem. It lights up and stays steady. Only time it will flash is when the service connector is bridged.
The previous poster I think hit the nail on the head. Go inspect your tires/drivetrain. Something speed related is usually a result of something along these lines, not the engine itself....
