My DOHC ZC is acting up....

I noticed my A/F guage not reading this weekend and my check engine light turned on.......so I went to autozone to buy an o2 sensor.....I'm broke and didn't think an o2 sensor was 100 bucks.....so the guy told me to go home and clean the o2 and see if that helped....so I did........check engine light went away and car was running fine.........that same night on the way to the track it did it again...the a/f guage read lean but no check engine light this time....car still running fine............. I turned aruond and on the way way home anything above 3k is starts to bog bad.......I let the car sit over night.....I pulled the plugs the next day and the dizzy and the o2 sensor......decided to get new plugs and o2....changed it out put the dizzy back on and decided to retard the timing to make sure it was running fine (a/f g uage still not working..) car runs.......just the a/f guage not workig i making me weary......

I know it could be just the guage thats bad, but on start up the guage reads rich and then as the car heats up it goes to lean then dssapears.....

today on the way to work I was stuck in traffic and I notice my idle went up to about 1.3k and then my car starts to over heat........throw the heater on and it went away.....

NOW CAN ANYONE HELP ME WHATS WRONG WITH MY CAR???

Well your over heating problem is not going to be related to your a/f problem. It could very well be that your o2 sensor is going bad. Especially with the car throwing up the CEL. I mean you clean it it works, it gets dirty it doesnt work, pretty straight forward to me. As far as overheating, refil/bleed your coolant is the most likely answer.

my a/f gauge did the same, real rich to leam then dissapear. i changed the o2 and everything was fine

what year is your car? if its a 96 and above go to honda. make sure the CEL is on and if it says anything about your o2, they should replace it for FREE. they have an extended warranty on them.

its a 92 civic.......

I did change the o2 sensor and ti still does the same thing.........

go to honda and have them check the obd1 and it should tell you the problem then fix it

if you are still getting a cel pull buy a haynes manual and pull the trouble codes. real simple procedure and it will tell you whats wrong without having to pay a dealership $100 an hour to tell you the same thing

Aight took the guage off and the car runs strong...don't know still hesistant......we'll see....
