Ok, some honda guys love all motor setups, others are all about the boost. Of what i think, is it true that an all motor setup is best because it gives you the power gains through all of the rpms, while in a turbo, you get power mostly in the higher rpms. What are the reasons one are better? Why is all motor or turbo actually better?
I belive that turbo is the way to go!!!! I knwo a guy who has a FULLY built H22 making good power. ran 12's in a 4dr accord. he just swiched over to ITB's and a custom header approx $2500-3000 in parts between the two and only got a gain of 1.5 whp!!!!!!! TURBO IS THE WAY!!!!!!!!

Hondas were made to Rev.... I think boost it just for the people who lack funds to build a all motor engine as the price is ridiculous. Not only that but the feeling of boost is a hard thing to forget once experienced but all motor is Honda's aim....thats why they stop producing turbo cars since the 70's.

LOL, so it doesn't cost much to put together a fully built turbo setup?
Yeah alot of TRACK cars are kept NA but if this guy is trying to build a FAST car, boost is the way to go, there's only so far you can go with an NA setup, spending 1,000's of dollars for nickel and dime hp, and then you have to gut the crap out of your car? not worth it, with half of the money he would spend on the NA setup he can build a turbo setup and be faster and just as or even more reliable than a crazy NA setup
just my opinion

i drove an srt-4 that a friend of mine owns....dont get me wrong, turbo is fast as ****. Like, scary fast. But when you punch it, it has that 1 second lag for the exhaust to spool the turbo, you wouldnt have anything like that on all motor. and i agree with the honda;s are high rev, na machines

Sure it does, but to get 60 hp out of a boosted motor is a lot easier/cheaper then it is to get 60 out of an all motor set up

have you driven an NA 2.4L neon? didn't think so. The srt-4 ***** all over a NA 2.4L. The SRT-4's exhaust housing is TINY...so it makes full boost by near 2500rpms and peak torque under 3k. You cant tell me that isn't a quick spool.
You cannot get a good all motor setup for $4000, what are you talking about. Firstly to get it to rev cams bearings and forged rods are expensive not to mention ITB. If your going to run a good all motor setup alot of maching has to be done to the block and heads. Most of you guys dont ture your hondas to rev past 8000 Rpm, which is where alot of power is left to be made. 9000 rpm is just sufficient for a great all motor setup to get a good crank that will take that abuse alone is expensive so think before you talk K...
But the truth is boost is the way to go if you have a low budget and need to make power easily, N/A will always be the best tho

Didnt realize i answered there......is the base model neon a 2.4? if so, i must have lied when i answerd you. i have driven the base neon and if thats the car, i cant believe you would honestly compare the base model neon to the srt-4......its not like the base is built up to 230 something hp.....i bet if you build one up to 200 whp, it would compete.....

So like us NA guys have been sayin:
BOOST=CHEAP HP < NA=$$ for hp
this is quiet the math equation

Yep thats how it works out..
But i have yet to see a high horsepower NA that would compair to some peoples daily driven turbo cars..

look at it this way, put a decent turbo set up on a car for 3500. you have good hp all over and can run some decent times.
spend 3500 on na set up. ok power, just ok time at the track(in a street car).
so one day your driving around and boom you motor breaks a rod. damn that sucks.
now you have to buy a new motor spend 1000-2000$ got yourself a new motor.now with a turbo you put her in and your ready. with a built na motor you got to buy the motor and then spend at least 2000$ to put the motor back.when they blow they take out most of your good stuff.
so you make the choice.. .02
