CRX power door lock install
Hey guys, I'll be installing power door locks this weekend so I thought I'd get some input from others who have already done this.
I pulled a door panel off today to take a look at what I'm up against.
Where did you guys mount your actuators? I was thinking somewhere to the right of the door handle hardware and to the left of the seat belt bs.
I realize it might be hard to explain but any input is appreciated.

http://www.gutterslide.com/fou...y.jpg I used this picture as reference. I did almost the same thing except that I was having flex issues with the way the rod was bent. So I corrected it by keeping the bends at a 45 degree rather than 90 degrees.
yeah, that pic looks a little scary. Those are some harsh bends and over time looks like they would fail quite easy. I mounted mine at the far left upper corner where the hole is. Mounts perfect with the rail, and the rod is fairly straight which is key.

Where? above the speaker? on a CRX right?
Or do you mean on the right (toward back of car) The hole above the lock assembly?

Thanks, I thought of mounting mine like that but on the right of the handle hardware instead.

I am talking about a 91 crx si to be exact. So if you are looking at the door from the outside then yes, it would be the hole on the right above the door handle, sorry I was referring to if you were actually inside the car looking at the door with the panel off.

Awesome, as you can tell I like to have as much info as I can before I start wrenching.

I've never done this on a CRX but on quite a few other vehicles. It's really not that difficult, but yeah finding the mounting points is the fun part. Just remember you can make the actuators unlock or lock the door in either direction depending on how you wire it up. Make sure you roll your window up and down a few times after you have set the actuator in the desired location. This will insure that the window does not catch on the actuator. Good luck and have fun.

I would strongly suggest not to install the actuators as shown in the above pic. There is no reason to put any bends in the rod. I managed to install mine towards the back of the door such that the rod is almost perfectly straight and the actuator sits between the glass and the inner door panel. Test several times to ensure there is no interference with the glass.

Nice topic, cuz i installed door actuator few hours ago. I'm installing a alarm to my car. I put it to the top left corner where the hole is, and the motor can pull the bar straight and without bends.

Where did you mount the rail? Drill your own holes?

I mounted the rail horizontal if I can remember right, and yes you will need to drill some holes, but that should be no biggie. Maybe I can rip my door panel apart this week while I am converting to obd1 and take some pics.
