Default Bleeding ITR brake system

What's the right way to bleed my brake system and what amount of new brake fluid should I buy, enough to bleed the whole system. Good brand/type or good alternative.

- need to pass inspection for upcomming event -

thanks!

Pick up a container of ATE. It has always done well for me. As for bleeding, grab a friend to depress the pedal while you open and close the bleeder screw. Simple as that. You should be able to bleed out the entire system of stock fluid with one liter of fluid. Have fun!

Any special precaution with the ABS system or it is just like bleeding any other earlier model car?

Do a search in the Archived Topics of the Tech board, there some good threads on the subject. I could have listed them for you, but you have to practice your search abilities

The ABS oil is in a different system than the brake oil. It a different procedure to bleed the ABS system

So, I understand the brake circuit is independent from the ABS mechanism and proceed to bleed like a regular system.

Thank guys!

yeah, don't listen to that comment.

bleeding sequence is LF, RF, RR, LR. Plastic mallet banging on caliper helps get out stubborn air bubbles. don't be afraid to wack the **** out of it.

What are you talking about

A car with ABS will just take a little more time to bleed the brake system.......there's no such thing as " ABS oil "

Yeah, I have a Snap-on plastic mallet in my toolbox but, also have a 10 lbs. sledge hammer. Will that work better to get the stubborn air bubbles out the caliper???

Ja ja...J/K

I think he may be referring to the '94-'97 non-Type-R Integras. They do have a seperate ABS brake fluid reservoir and the ABS system has to be bled seperately. All Type-R's and all 98+ Integras have a different ABS system which shares the brake fluid and does not require any different bleeding process.

BTW, my Helms manual ('94) indicates that the bleeding sequence is: RR, LF, LR, RF. I'm not sure if later manuals ('98+) suggest a different bleeding sequence.
