d16z6 VS. d16y8
this has been beaten to death, but i am going to outline some stuff for you:
Y8:
Has smaller combustion chamber (not circular) that raises compression and combats detonation:
Has a better intake manifold
Z6:
Better flowing head over the y8 because the divider in the y8 is offset to promote swirling of the intake air for better efficiency but not as good for power.
As for the bottom ends they are pretty much identical. I would also go with a Y8 tranny though it has steel shift forks unlike the z6 which has aluminum forks.

so a y8 manifold and tranny with a z6 motor would be a ideal setup?
also what are some good rods and pistons for boost with out having to knotch the block

without notching the block? You can do it with a dremel... I think crower rods dont need notching but they are really expensive, just get a set of eagles or tuner toys and notch the block. As pistons i would go with arias, wiseco, cp, je, or srp lol they are all about the same other than srp pistons which have a higher silicon content which makes them expand more i believe and arent mad to handle 600+ hp lol

well right now i have a boosted stock z6 and i found a y8 i was gonna buy this weekend but i wanted to research the best result before i bought it so i was kinda looking to see what the ideal best setup i could do. iwanna boost like 15lbs and show people around here wat a single cam can do.
well what turbo are you running 15psi means jack to me 15 psi on a gt40r is not the same as 15 psi t25. Anyways dont buy the y8 unless you want to build it so you dont have your car out of commission for awhile. The best setup you can do? i dont understand that statement, is this a strictly street car, drag car, auto-x, what? that depends on what turbo you get among many other factors.
i have the 15g greddy kit. gonna max out the turbo for now, but i want a mainly street but some drag car. what i mean by the best set up is like y8 manifold z6 head and block and what not i currently have act clutch in my z6 tranny will it fit in the y8 tranny or will i have to get a new one and what would be a good valve train? such as whats a good turbo cam etc. thanks for the help
i dont usggest maxxing the turbo out unless you have at least rods and pistons. Bes setup would be a Y8 tranny and intake manifold with a z6 block and head. As for a cam i suggest the zex 59300 i have it and i love it never had any issues.
yeah i ment after i build the motor i wanna max out that turbo thanks for the help how much was that cam and do you need valves and retainers for it where did you buy it at thanks
