Default H22A1 or K20A?

Hey all... im wanting to put a new engine and tranny in my 4th gen 92 prelude si.
its already a manual tranny so im ok there. but my questions are. i was looking into a H22A1 but. then i thought about a K20A. what do you guys think? and how much would it cost me for mods to make the K20 work. and would that be a good engine match for my car?

thanks guys

There is only one K20 swap that I know of and it required custom parts to make it work.

This was done on a 5th Gen Prelude.

If you are looking for a good NA engine, just build up an H22. H23 VTEC hybrid can't withstand the abuse most people put it through.

You are really not ready to put a K20 in your lude. It's a nice thought, but the amount of work involved is a serious proposal for someone who is asking us what mods you need to make it fit... I'd say H22.

If you do want to spend a bunch of time and money though, why not go with a K24 for some extra torque?

Why put a k20a in a prelude? your going to spend alot of $$$ doing that. Do some searches on h22 and you will see why theres no need in wasting money in putting a k20a in there. A h22 is potent motor.

seeing as how your thinking about the k20 and you will be dropping around 10k to get it working while your at it why not buy one of my k24 blocks off of me, and then do a k20 k24 hybrid in your prelude.. then you will really have the bling factor

Shiet, if its going to cost 10k, you might as well stay H23 and do a nice turbo setup.

yeah i saw a thread in the hybrid section about people doing k series swaps, and when all is said and done they had spent an average of 10k+ and this was into civics and integras were mount kits are readily available.. can you imagine the cumulitive costs of custom mounts??

its gotta be out the roof for all the custom fab it would take, i personally dosent see the point and spend that much money for a motor with less torque, even Brauning mentioned in a forum when you build the motors with almost identical mods they get about the same gains...id stay with a h22a, at least till the cost of the k20 comes down

...and they're spending 10k for what is pretty much a stock swap, right? It is truly amazing. $3000 car (average EG Civic)... $10,000 motor swap... makes no sense.

h22 would be ALOT easier, and if u are thinkin bout h23 vtec, y not just do h22 with the h23/f22 crank and rods.
