Default Won't engage into park

I have an 89 Prelude with an automatic trans. I have adjusted the shifter cable per the instructions in the shop manual. However, it still does not want to fully engage into park. It makes a popping noise as it rolls when it doesn't engage. Any ideas on how to fix it?

Thanks,
Dan

When you adjusted the cable did it make any difference at all? You may have a bad shifter cable. Does it engage into every other gear ok?

Adjusting the cable didn't seem to help at all. Could a bad cable cause this problem. It shifts into the other gears just fine. Dan

I've never seen something like this before. You should swing by a dealer or a good transmission shop.

I asked another technician at my shop and he said you may have sheared off your park pin.
Have you abruptly put the car im park while it's moving? Or does it park on ungodly steep hills?
