the B18C crank and B18CR crank are 87.20mm...
the b16a and B16B crank is 77.40mm...
The B16B block is the same deck height as the b18C block but has a 77mm crank
what this means is the block is P72 and the Crank is PR3
The B16B rods however are 142.8mm in length to make up for the extra deck height
The B16a Rods are 134.36mm in length
The B18C rods are 137.9mm in length
does this clear everything up?

I knew all that.
He said short block, not block. He also said part number.
A B18C short block is not a B16B short block.
Incase you didn't sense the sarcasm in my post.

The part number on the back of the block I have is :
P72
1-1
Next time let me know about your sarcasm and I'll make sure not to post anything informational for anyone....

I noticed your not in the US. The B16B isn't available in the US, so a part number here would be non-existant. I dont know if the Civic Type R was ever available in your area, but if it was, just call a dealer and ask.

Now does anyone know where I can obtain B16B rods? OEM or aftermarket as a last resort?

Wow, this thread is great. Short block consists of a fully assembled bottom end. Who gives a **** about deck height b18c and b16b are not the same part number. You are going to have to find out from somebody that has access to honda of japan.

you bring up some very good points. I have a B16B crank still in the block with rods and pistons. I will take them out and compair with what you have.
What I do notice in your pictures is that the B16B crank looks simmilar to the B18a/b/B20 crank.
I will check what I have at the shop and compair with your so we can learn more about the B16B crank.
good write up
