PLEASE HELP bought a 91 crx today and it has some engine problems
ok just sold my 2004 wrx today and bought a 1991 honda crx si....
the car was traded into a local dealership with a burnt valve.
one of the mechanics at the dealership bought the car and "repaired it" and then sold it to me...here is what he said he did to the car
headgasket
valves
t-belt
waterpump
cap,rotor,plugs,wires
the car has 201401 miles and is in decent cosmetic shape but the car has NO POWER AT ALL it seems like it wants to pull but it wont.
i did a compression check today and its 185 on all 4 cylinders i set the ignition timing to stock setting and it still has no power. The car does use some oil but im stumped as to why theres no power.....clogged cat?
I drove it about 40 miles today and used 1/4 tank of gas because i have to floor it to get going.
please give me some things to check before i pull the motor and get a new d series!

clogged cat is very possible, especially considering the milage. take it off, punch it out and put it back on. it can only help!

theres no check engine light on but when i turn the ignition the led in the ecu blinks 5 times then pauses then blinks 15 times
code 15 is ignition input sensor and 5 is map sensor fix those two first then continue to diagnose . the dizzy has a 2 pin connecter check to see if it has 12volt on the power side (black/yel) use a multi meter not a test light. for the map sensor just go to a local junk yard and barrow one forever

yea and if the sensor is bad, u need a new dizzy, you cannot replace the sensor. and you should be able to check it with the ignition just on. but if not, u can do it when its running

best bet get a new dizzy . if u want to confirm thats its the dizzy, swap it into a friend car and see if the problem follows the dizzy. ignition should be on when u check for voltage.
its not ur fuel filter, fix the codes first, the mechanic rigged it so u wouldnt notice.
clogged cat would kill a good chuink of hp aswell, not gonna hurt ya to soak it in some solvent or just completely gut it out

he said it ran good for about a month then it took a ****...i think the timing belt jumped a tooth it stumbles above 3 grand and the gas mileage sucks...ill check it out asap
