We make them out of MDF, sorry no pix, but it does require you "gut" the rear of the car.

I noticed you want to "box" them in, very good idea, I have a set of 6.5" Eclipse, [in my 94 LS, not gutted] in the rear in custom MDF and fiberglass cabinets, I do not run any amps or sub, I have been accused of having an amp and sub hidden in the car someplace.
With 6x9s it should work very well, let us know how it works out, a few pix of the construction and finished product would be great.

PS..... nice ride.

Ok, so i was extremely bored yesterday and took it upon myself to enclose the rear speaker panels that I had made....however i did it in a way that may be a little "bootleg" compared to what may normally float around H-t but heres the best I got anyway.
My original post was this
I know there have been a lot of people looking for information on rear speaker brackets...so this is what i have to offer. All it took for me was 2 spray cans of paint, one primer, one gloss white, a 1/4 inch think piece of Plywood and a jigsaw.
Take paper and go around whichever hole you are trying to fit the speaker in with a razor blade to get a template to put on wood.
Cut the wood
trace the speaker hole
Paint, mount, wire and your ready to go.... here are some pics of mine

Ok now for the bootleg. If you have a hatch, and its gutted, you know the obscene amount of holes that go along with doing such. Anyway, since there is extremely minimal room to enclose the speaker correctly, and my skills and tools are limited, I decided to use the space as it sat, and enclose it.
I took out the speaker, leaving the bracket to sit and started making my enclosure. Looking at the first picture I will explain.
-towards the left of the speaker (toward the rear of the car) sits the rear fender well, which can be closed off to start sealing where the speaker sits. To do this , I put a piece of cloth, secured by duct tape on either side.
-Where the wood meets the metal, I loosened the screws and took white caulk and lined the joints. As the bottom sits a little farther away, I just took duct tape and sealed it that way.
-the right side where the enclosure meets the front door, I sealed with a combination of cloth and duct tape yet again, leaving only the bottom to be dealt with.
-Being in college, I took some leftover boxes from the cases of discount beer, and cut them accordingly to size and fit them to make a flush bottom section for the rear speakers.Securing it in with duct tape , making a full sealed enclosure, I filled the enclosure with egg crate bedding from last years dorm bed.
FInally I sealed in the speaker with caulk, and voila! a bassy, loud, deep subwoofer sounding speaker
(repeat on passenger side)
