So I get this "P28" that does not look like one....
I got this yesterday. Guy told me it came from a stock civic. I opened it up and it looked like it was chipped already. I have chipped several P28's before and this one looks different. BTW, it came from a 95. Here are some pics:

I have seen some "factory chipped" ecus. Looks like you got one of them. Read the chip and see what's different, for poops and hahas.
thats as everyone is saying a stock external rom ecu.
Havent seen a p28 with external rom though.
Read it when you get it out like drdisco69 sayd.

looks like it came out of a automatic trans civic... the three black pods in the upper left corner in your first pic.... a manual trans only has one..

Lol, the word you're looking for is "transistor".
And yes, it is an auto. Not that it can't be 'cured' of that condition...

I removed the E-prom (what whetever it is) and I think I damaged the board.
I lifted one of the wires on the board. Look closely`where I removed the 28 PIN chip.
Is this ECU any good?

Follow the trace from the pad to the component it leads to. Make sure there's continuity between those 2 points. If there is, you should be ok. If there's not, you can run a wire "manually" to repair it.
