Default Car overheated? is it possible that my internals are still good?

I was on the freeway and the gauge turned superhot, past the H and my check engine came on... And i pulled into my friend's shop and smoke was coming out my hood. I don't know the exact condition of my motor yet but i will find out today?

if this can be fixed, how much would it cost? i'm hoping nothing is fried up

my car overheated in the past, but this is a rebuilt motor with less then 30k

just had a recent oil change also

help me out yall

Well when you saw the gauge climbing up you shoulda pulled over and checked the basics such as low coolant or possibly a leak somewere... Its possible the overheating warped your internals depends how long it was like it was.

I did check my coolant, everything seemed to be fine... my gauge was acting really weird, it was fluctuating going hot, then cold, then hot again

so i thought it was an electrical problem, but turned out to overheat

sucks to be me

hopefully my friends shop doesn't charge me hardcore

I am going to be working on my 99 Integra today (timing belt + water pump and head gasket)

I think my head gasket is bad because of the temp fluctuation and loss of coolant add that too the bubling coolant tank and white smoke I think its my HD compression test will prove it today,,

Well I am changing the timing belt because I am due for that service and I will be changing my Head gasket because I think that thats what is causing my overheat + loosing coolant and misfires...

its your thermostat...If you got it to cool down in high PRM's

If its stuck shut it wont let coolant take care of the engine, and heat up.

you can just touch the lower hose, and if its only warm, not hot like the top hose you found your problem.

yeah, i noticed that when i took the rpms, my guage will fluctuate to normal then back to hot

so u think its just my thermo, hopefully... i dont need another rebuilt motor

that cost me $2000 last time

Depends on how long it was overheating.

lets hope its not the headgasket as well..if you did. you may have warped your head too. Pull of your valve cover, check to see if its milky and check your spark plugs to see if theres oil in your cylinders

Welll I checked my compression was running 175 across the board and its running strong after figuring out my coolant leak was my heater hose and it was such a tiny pinhole leak(thank god it wasn't a head gasket). My misfires stopped too since I changed my wires + plugs, the plugs were rusted and crappy!

Thanks!

same problem. Although my radiator had a leak. the difference is I knew. When you over heat you gotta drive to a parking spot and just stop. It sounds like you drove like 15 20 minutes like this? This may not hurt the motor initially but you will have a "short" long term reliability. Perhaps.
