How Do Generic Coilovers Ride?
Ive got some generic coilovers here, still looking wheater or nto I should buy shocks for them or if I should pick up this tokiko blue and sportlines combo I got off ebay for $175 = ship.
I wanna know if I can just buy some kyb agx's for these springs or if they will ride alright?
Thanks

I believe they are 400/600 and I want to run them with KYB gr-2 or monroe replacements.
This is just a DD with a fairly small drop, just want something that looks good but doesnt bounce excessively but will last atleast 3 seasons of about 15k/season
Everyone seems to say coilovers are good for the adjustability and stock shocks work great for comfort when dropped no more then 3"

If all you want is a small drop your better off going with a set of springs.

Only real reason to have coilover is if your going to corner balance a car, some guys like em cause you can adjust the height of your car on every other day easily.
If you use stock shock and coil-overs you will be underdampened, the ride will most likely be bouncy.
Shocks should be matched to springs, a set of AGX should be ok with Off the shelf cheap coilovers.
Tech. all civic shocks are coil-overs ( coil is over the spring)
If you want a descent set up just get a good shock, with a descent lowering spring.

eibach springs and maybe some tokico's or AGX...
If you want a better shock get some Koni's..
the shock is much more important then the spring.
if you can spend the money get some koni's
find some one selling the springs for cheap..

no, not really. corner balancing is way over rated. an adjustable spring kit is good for adjusting spring rates and heights in general.

i doubt anyone ever adjusts their ride height daily... other than for race purposes for fine tuning at the track.

i somewhat agree typically, generic "coilover" kits give really stiff springs, not properly matched for anything useful, than blowing shocks. but custom ordering spring rates from ground control, this can be avoided. and its "(under)damped."

i dunno, give or take. shocks have a range of usability, its not simply like a glove only fitting one sized hand, or is it a one size fit all deal between shocks and springs. a spring could definately be out of the range of a shock AND purpose/tuning. thats why its good to have an adjustable shock to go along with adjustable springs.

agx are a good shock. im more of a fan of tokicos. but i still think cheap coilovers have horrible spring rates.

i suppose we'll never get rid of this misnomer im almost giving up correcting ppl. but i would really argue if ppl called fully threaded shocks as "true" coilovers, as if stock honda shocks are "false".

sounds like I might have some fun
Only reason Im asking is because on my first setup all I did was heat my spring to lower it about 1.5" on stock shocks and spring and it rode amazing, no bonce, felt stock actually
Ive never felt anything bad
