Lowering spings would give you a soother ride than coilovers, however you can have more of an exact drop with coilovers.

If you lower your car with either springs or coilovers, you're going to want to get a set of shocks. I run Tokico Illuminas on my EJ1, I love them.

What kind of shocks/spring combo are best to get for lowering? Are springtech any good?

All i can say is, if you dont want an uber stiff ride, dont get omni sports. I have them, and it sucks.

Never heard of Springtech, probably Ebay garbage.

First off..how much of a drop are you looking for? To be honest, springs are springs. As long as they arent super stiff rates you should be fine with them. The important thing is if you want to do it right are the shocks. Not many shocks can handle an aggressive drop. So first off...we NEED to know how much of a drop you're looking for.

Coilovers have the benifit of being able to be adjusted so you can change your ride height whenever you want. But you'll need an alignment after each time you screw with them and if you cheap out, the perches will probably rust up and you wont be able to ever adjust them after a year or so. Also you'll need to get a VERY nice shock to handle the very high rates of most coilovers.

There's two types of coilovers. The sleeves like Skunk2 and Ground Control that you'll need to mate with a high quality shock of your choice. Theres also "real" coilovers that come already mated to a shock that is made to handle the rates of that specific coilover. The "real" ones are more expensive but will work perfectly since they were made for each other.

So basically...what do you plan on doing with the car, and how much of a drop are you looking for? After you answer those 2 questions, we can be of more help.

I tried putting coil overs on with just a 2 inch drop without new shocks/struts. As soon as i lowered the car off the jack the shocks started leaking. even if they dont bust then, they will when you hit a bump. so def go with new shocks as well when you do.

hahaha but if he's a noob, and by noob I dont mean to the forum I mean to cars in general...he may not know any better and take your advice!

That wouldnt work out too well for sure. The shitty part is I actually know idiots personally that did it.

Needless to say..they all have the correct spring/shock combo for thier applications and no fillings left in thier molars due to banging out so hard driving over a pebble.

The "pointless" things purchases is my main problem too man. Usually weed/pills and cigarettes, food that type of stuff but it seriously adds up.

One of these days though bro...one of these days.

I'm running some omnipower slip fit coilovers with tokico blue struts as a "get me by" setup. IMO, if you want to lower your car more than an inch, you'd probably be better off getting a full coilover setup. (i.e. omnipower, tein basic, k-sport, etc.)

hahaha I didnt even realize i was that close. I actually read that and I was like..whoa who is that! Then I was like..."haha oh its me!".

But I know you were just kidding with the satanist comment, but just to clarify I actually don't have much of an opinion on religion but thats another day another story. I've NEVER been one to **** on other peoples beliefs nor judge them by it, its just my personal opinion. Therefore, since im not too sure about gods existance I obviously feel the same way about satans existance..so im far from a satanist...just intrigued by the "evility" involved with the Pentagram, which is actuallya mathematic symbol...but enough ranting hahahaha

The pentagram has nothing to do with satan. It has different symbols for different cultures, but its almost all good symbols. Christians use to wear them before everyone started using the cross as the christian symbol. Being upside down or not has no significance.
