Default squealing noise coming from the engine when just starting

Everytime when i start my car, usually when its cold. I will get this weird squealling noise. Its not the alternator or ps or any belt.. When i start my car, it will start, and go away if i just rev it up a little or just drive a for 10 seconds.

sounds like it's coming from the front passenger side some where..

Heater???

i dont know.. need help.. would like to solve this little mysterious noise.

How do you know its not a belt bc it sounds just like a belt. Especially how it goes away if you rev or you drive a little bit (belt heats up).

because i know what a belt squealing sounds like.. unless this belt wants to make a new sound. plus, all my belts are new.

I get the same noise when I start mine when its cold out. I'd say its just the belts, because if disappears after like 5 seconds for me.

Used to happen on 2 of my past Celicas. It was the Timing Belt. Double check that if you are sure that it is not.

the timing belt? how was your timing belt making noise?

I know forsure that it is not the Belts. it is not a loose squealing belt noise. something else weird. im gonna have a friend start the car in the morning while i inspect under the hood.

Quick test: really loosen the alt, ps, ac belts so they wont spin the accessories and start the car. See if it goes away.

to the original poster: ^^^listen to this advice.

my first Integra made a squeeling noise that I also knew wasn't a regular belt noise, however this noise was coming from the driver side.
six months later she dropped the timing belt.

please take your gsr in to get a timing belt/water pump replacement.

that or sell me the car

You cant be serious? You dont need an alt to start or run a car. The starter draws power from the battery to start the car. And once its running it will just drain from the battery instead of being recharged. Try what I said and it will eliminate the belts from this mystery.

mine used to make an odd sound in the morning every once in a while and its either the starter or the abs but when the abs is in use it makes that sound when i am in the snow. soo in logic it cant be the starter, for me. but i dont know what your sound is, so it could be a number of things.

I would REMOVE the accessory belts. Loose belts might make more noise and not pinpoint the source of the squeal. If the noise persists, then check into the timing belt and may need to be re-tensioned. When was the last time it was replaced?

ok.. so I had my friend start the car and reverse and drive it around the parking lot while i walked along side. NOTHING. the car couldnt have sounded more perfect. lol

so then i get in the car and start to drive away.. BINGO!! the noise appears. it is NOT a belt. maybe the timing belt tensioner, but i dont know..

it happens at around 2000 rpm. this weird noise.. sounds like something with the heater??? i dont have a F'king clue.. lol..

anyway you can take a sound clip or video clip using a cheap digital camera. That would help.

i am gonna try and take a sound clip if my friends camera can do that..

it only happens at 2000 rpm when i am going slowly.. ie.. just starting to move.. most only in 2nd gear.

tranny doesnt grind or anything like that.. all smooth in that dept.
