Default D15B into '96 Civic EX, backfired, now no spark.

Just finished a swap putting a JDM D15B into '96 Civic EX.

Using OBD2 injectors, D15B dizzy rewired to work w/ OBD2.

It had been running, but poorly. Rough, sounded like it was missing. I tried to start it up this morning so I could troubleshoot some more, and it started, running rough as usual. It let out a real loud backfire, and died. After that, I couldn't get it to start again. Could not get spark, have swapped out ignitors on the dizzy, have triple checked all grounds (Thermo, tranny, and valve cover, right?) and still no spark.

I've taken off the cap and felt the coil w/ my finger, and did not get shocked when motor turned over. So I guess dizzy is getting no power for some reason.

Cliff notes:

Loud backfire, car dies, now no spark.

SOMEONE GIVE ME A LIST OF THINGS TO CHECK FOR, PLEASE!

Um...did you're timing being off ever come into mind?. I hope it's right, via TDC on the block and head, and ignition.

sounds like the dizzy is dead and or you have some spark plugs on wrong.

Yeah if he knows it's good then he needs to go for his timing cause it's pretty damn important. If it IS you're dizzy then it must be extremely old/bad and fucked up or altogether, or you are running abnormally richer then average to burn it out quicker.

What do you do when your car doesn't start...you check for spark and fuel.

Have you done either?

By just putting your finger on the cap while the car is fired wouldn't really constitute "testing" in my book. Get yourself an voltometer and test that coil .
