brain usage is a virtue....

the distributor is on the front side of the motor, just up from the exhaust manifold...so, im going to have to deduce that it uses the exhaust cam....

that's what i thought too but since the distributor connect to it and if you rotate distributor, would that change ignition timing?

timing is timing. the intake and exhaust cams are both attached to the same timing belt. to change the timing of one is to change the timing of the other...

Timing isn't quite timing though. When you rotate the distributor, the cams don't rotate with it. Only the distributor does. That changes the point where the spark hits. There is also cam timing, which you adjust by the cam gears. That controls when your valves open and close. Very different from ignition timing

no

ignition timing is controled by the ecu. im not sure if on obd 2 you can even advance the ignition timing by turning the distributor.. you might be able to, you jump the service connector and use a timing gun and point it at the timign marks on the fly wheel. most people advance the dizzy 2 or 3 degrees from 0 which is where the dizzy is set.

changing the cam gear timing only changes the machenical timing of valve opening and closing. changing the time at which the spark plug sparks can only either be changed by a fully tunable system or by turning you dizzy which adds or subtracts whole degrees from the stock timing map in the ecu
