what size tire do i need?
i just got some gt3's and there 15x7 and i want to know what tire i need.
could i use 195/50/15 or should i get 205/50/15. also i am thinking the first number is the width of the tire, am i right? what will be good for a 7" width?
thanks

They will both work, the 195/55 might be slightly stretched but 205/50 will work very well. Ive used a couple different 205s on 7" wide wheel and it was always a good fit.

Well, you don't say what type of car you're driving but I'm going to guess it's a more recent model Teg. If that's the case, I'd suggest going with the 205's. They'll keep you closer to stock gearing than the 195's and there are a tons of good tire options out there. If this a street only car, then the Kumho 712 is a cheap and decent tire. If you're looking to autoX the car some and aren't going to have a seperate set of wheels/tires for racing, then I'd look at either the newer Azenis or the Kumho MX.
Best of luck

The 205's will be perfect, not too stretched (195's on a 7"), and not sloppy (215 series on a 6") if your car has aftermarket suspension with a lower ride height or if you ever go to that, then they are not too wide to rub either.
As far as street tires go I like the Bridgestone Potenza S-03 Pole Positions, not as inexpensive as Kuhmo's, but not too much more. It's all personal opinon and preference though.
Tire Rack has a survey and review of each tire they sell.

Try 205/50's next time. IMO, they look better and with the extra section width the give you alot more contact with the road (especially with some of the "oversized" 205 options out there).
I'd suggest 15x7 b/c of better tire availability, better ride, and performance compared to 16 & 17's. If you're certain that you have to get large wheels, then either of the previously mentioned tire choices should work well.

That's too small. You really want to get 195/55-15 or 205/50-15. Most tires in either size are approved for 15x7 rims.
Here is how the outer diameters of those sizes compare with stock:
195/60-14 (stock)
195/50-15 -2.3 percent
195/55-15 +1.0 percent
205/50-15 -0.6 percent

Your car has larger stock tires than Integras, so you need to get 205/50-16 or 205/45-17. If you only go to 15's, get 195/60-15.
185/70-14 (stock)
195/60-15 +0.1 percent
205/50-16 -0.5 percent
205/45-17 +0.3 percent

nsxtasy gave both of you the right info. For future reference Tire Rack's website is excellent for deciding on what tire size you need for what size rim you are stepping up to. Just plug your year, make, and model and your ready to choose

The tread width is the same. But with the 195/55-15 size, the outer diameter is slightly larger, and is what you want.
