my car was runnin fine the other day.. but my fan shroud ate a hole through one of my vacum lines then i boosted 14 by accident a couple times.. i fixed it back to five.. but now my car dosent start correctly.. and smoke comes out of my valve cover breather hole.. wat is wrong.. is it normal.. and when i drive smoke comes into my car but dosent smell like anything.. i checked to see if n e thing was burning nothing.. looked in my valve cover for water... none..

Ringlands are grooves in the piston where the rings sit. Replacing them means a rebuild.

Edit: added pics

I did the same thing with my LS... only I boosted to 26 psi and I intentionally blew it up. It still ran pretty damn strong but when I took the block apart and spilled her guts out on the table I found that I broke EVERY SINGLE ringland on EVERY piston... good times

just drive around like that, theres wont be sufficient damage to your cylinder walls or anything...also it wont smoke unless you redline or get boost greedy. I have a cracked ringland too and have been looking for a built shortblock for over 2 months now

Well, I am by no means rich... lol I saved up for about a year and had another Built B18A all ready for boost and I was just looking for an excuse to take the motor out and move along with my swap...
Now that I think about it I could have sold the B18 I had and made out with a few bucks in my pocket... ****!

No not exactly. My motor has probably seen no more than 150 miles since I cracked my ringland...the car stays garaged while Im away for school, but when I come home, ill drive it around. Its still very much driveable...it just sounds like a wrx

Your good. Obviously #3 cylinder is loosing major pressure. Now you know where to dig. Have fun pullin the motor apart.

they are at least in the +/- 10 range...but still 125 is really low.

Depending on certain test kits, they are not all acurate regarding the amount of psi's being read. As long as the majority of the cylinders are reading simular #'s, comp test is concidered good.
