Half Shaft Issue - Searched
Hey guys - I have a 95 GSR with an H23 in it - and ive been having issues with my car grinding when going over bumps -
I took it to a good shop and they all said that my half shaft was too long and i needed to get a shorter one - what could i look at paying for this and do you think it is possible?
Another mechanic says all it is, is wheel chatter - and that an alignment would fix the problem but that mechanic road in my car for about 2 min and didnt do anything - these guys at the other shop took the wheel off and got under the car and really checked it out.
I have heard some people mention they think it is my springs as i am still using the stock springs but that doesnt make an entirely lot of sense because wouldnt they have to be broken to cause such shudder
thanks for any info you guys can offer
what can i look at spending for halfshafts and if i dont replace it what could go wrong
cause they made a very rough estimate that it would cost them 450 to do both sides.
any ideas?
thanks a lot

$400 plus shipping. Call them up, they seem to be in a lot of magazine buildups IIRC.

You need axles made for what you've done with your car. HASport makes many different custom axles, and the link somebody already gave you seems to have some options.
I don't see a cheap way out of it if you want to keep your car for an extended period.

so youre car only grinds when going over bumps? what suspension equipment do you have in there, i noticed stock springs, but what about sway bars, control arms, shocks? before jumping to the conclusion that it is the half shaft, just take a few minutes to look into other areas that could cause this as well. just go over some of the other things as well, like bushings, mounts, boots, and the like. point to this is i hate to see people spend money on something that may fix the problem especially if it hasnt been properly and correctly diagnosed.

I guess i dont understand why i would need new axles - i am not making any massive power -
Anyhow- i changed out my old shocks with tokicio Illuminas and i have them set to level 5 - they are great but the issue still remains
whenever i have a lot of people in the car - or turn a corner too quickly or of course hit a bump
everything else in the underchassis is stable and in good function - i guess im confused as to why i would need axles .. but anyhow- any more ideas or questions for me??
thanks a lot guys

What axle set up are you currently using?
The H22 does require a special axle combination which you can just purchase any ole axle off the shelf to get.
So regardless of the HP you are pushing, or any type's of grinding noises that you are having, you should solve the issue about axles at first. If this is not a problem now, it will end up being a problem.
We do offer special pricing to honda-tech customer for such axle combinations, so if you have interest, just PM us for a price.
Other questions. Someone asked before -do you only hear the noise when going over bumps. What about if the wheels is in a turn, or in a turn going over a bump, do you hear the noise still, or is it worse or the same?

Hey.. I have an H23.. not an H22 as stated above.. does the axle issue still remain?
Going over bumps - sharper turns - another person in the car will make it happen more it seems to be weight driven..
any ideas?
