how many people actually have a GOOD jdm cable trans? (i know a ton have bad ones)
just out of curiosity...how many people have a good Y1 or S1 or any cable JDM trans? i think the majority of them suck a nut....i sure hope mine doesn't when it comes
my s1 was good till i bottomed out.....now it leaks tranny fluid.....just a couple drops a day....so i fill it up every couple weeks or so....but other than that its still good
My freind has an S1 in his car that is better than brand new, best trans I've ever driven!!! I know my YS1 is going to be a little notchy in thrid, haven't driven on it, but I can see that the synchro is slightly worn, not real bad though, so it stays for now.
I have a y1 cable and it is fine. I like the y1 for the highway gears as compared to the type r like gearing in the s1. My friend did a swap a few weeks before me and his s1 grinded 3rd, and a few months later it grinds 4th. It is a gamble, I am very happy with my y1. If I had to get another I would get a USDM tranny.

when i just got my swap done, my tranny rocked! but now...my 3-4 shift has given way..i grind during that shift at a lowly 4500 rpm (shifting NORMALY!)...but that's about it...oh yea...its an s1

i really don't think it's the tranny it can be but my proposal is the custom shift linkage!!!!
1 fine S1 tranny here with hcp shift linkage and a custom 94 and up shifter this feels much better than using a 93 and lower shifter

hmmmm..that's the kit i'm gonna use HCP w/ their shift linkage and a Y1 LSD. so you're using a 94+ shifter from a hydro car??
