LOST ALL KEYS
So yea, ive had a pretty rough week i wont get into, except for the fact i lost both sets of keys to my ITR. Basicly lost my 1st set snowboarding, and second taking a test on campus. So now i have to get my car towed to acura, because honda wont touch my car. And they have to change the imobilizer to get new set of keys. The cost is around 200 dollars. is there anyway to get it cheapeer, i mean, 200 dollars for a damn key, on domestics with an imobilizer it only runs 80-100ish.
The other options are:
1) Remove the immobilizer from the ECU and never get rid of the CEL that will follow.
2) Use an ECU without an immobilizer (which will involve purchasing a conversion harness).

Should run you around $75 for a new key. Call another stealership.

Happend to me too, ******* charged me 180 for two new keys. but there is a way of turning on the the car with a key with out the chip. there is a series of braking and turning the key that overides the immobilizer. some dealer ships know about it but very few.

Correct.
Correct.
WTF?!?! take ur VIN # to honda with proof of insurance on the car and get them to make you a key using the VIN #... they dont even have to look at the car as long as you have proof of ownership. ive done this twice. It saves alot of money. Good Luck

LoL...sounds like they're trying to charge you a $200 labor charge.
The Key is roughly $30. What they have to do is purchase a 35113-SY8-A03 key. This is a "Non-T5" key. After they purchase this $30 key, they request an Immobilizer Password through the iN system. After they acquire that password, they enter it into the PGM Tester, *NOT THE HDS* and then they car reprogram the key with the existing immobilizer in place.
After that key is programed, they can get as many T5 keys as they want and make keys to their heart's content.
And yes, $170 is way to much to charge a customer.
Scamming dealership, you should have it towed to our dealership.
BTW, Honda can not do this easily because they can not acquire a VIN Status Inquiry for your car which has the password for the immobilizer. They'll have to call Acura to do that. The system is separated. So that's probably why they're hesitant to help you.

Doesn't a hondata ECU disable the immobilizer? I know that it can on the RSX (K-PRO), but I'm still a Type-R noob. If Hondata can do that then it's a good excuse to upgrade your ECU, then just cut a cheapo $3 key from the VIN# and not even bother with towing it anywhere. You could even get a flashy 98 "Type-R" key later on.

Goddamn calculus, I think I'm gonna flush my keys down the poopa!
Snowboarding I can understand, but taking a test? Good luck though.

if i were you i would do what acura said, replace the immobilizer and get a new key, becaus 1 person at your school has a key to your car/immobilizer so if you just get a new key your car will be easily stolen, new set of locks/immobilizer would change that
thats JIC

No No. You don't reprogram the immobilizer at all. The immobilizer stays the same, it's just with the PGM Tester you can program a non-T5 Key to the existing immobilizer. Then you can copy codes to T5 keys from that non-T5 key. T5 Keys use a different machine to write the code to the key. I do not think you can reprogram the immobilizer unit at all.
