Default do i need a cat ???

i just bought a header for my car and it was too long to put my cat on... so i was running open header for couple of days.. then it got annoying so i put it in to a local shop.. and ask them to put a pipe between so it becomes quieter... and i was trying to fix my check engine light .. it wont go away... i have a friend with a ek with an gsr motor.. with no cat and he has no check engine light... so i was just wondering if i need a cat to get my check engine light off .... oh yea by the way when i was installing my header... instead of taking the o2 sensor off through the bracket.. i pulled the wires out of them.. and i didnt knoe that they go in a certain place so i just put them on whatever way... so my question is... do i need a cat or do i need new o2 sensors... the o2 sensors are right now.... but check engine light is still on.... so let me knoe whta u guys think...

Yes you need a cat, they are cute and fuzzy!!! O wait you are talking about your car......

Yes you need a cat. The second O2 sensor will cause the car to throw a code because it is either not hooked up, ot it is reading levels that are too high. When you say you pulled the wires out do you mean you actually just yanked them out of the sensor?? If you did that it sounds like you will have to replace that sensor also.

check the wires you pulled out of the 02 sensor that was my problem the conection was not good enough, unplug it, and then take neeedle nose plyers and pull the little clips though the plug.

to get rid of the CEL you need all the o2 sensors hooked up. if you have no where you put them wrap it with aluminum foil and put it somewhere safe. your cel will then go away
