Default Question reguarding jdm power folding mirrors

I think my girlfriend is getting me a set of powerfolding mirrors for xmas. But me and my friend were talking about this the other night, since these mirrors are coming off a right hand drive car, does that mean, our driver side mirror will have the "Objects appear closer than they are" affect on them?

Does Japan even observe this?

TIA

probably. just take the glass off of your mirrors and switch them with the glass from the jdm mirrors.

Is that hard to do? Because I believe w/ the powerfolding mirrors, the glass from are mirrors will not bolt up, just something I heard.

I remember reading some thread long ago saying how the curvature of the mirrors is different since the driver is on the other side. Some guy tried swapping the mirrors with his usdm mirrors and it was quite a chore.

Here is a thread talkin about the shape problem.

Scanned the archvies but I did not see the other thread, sorry. If you try the swap let us know how it goes!

They wont bolt up. The pegs at the back of the black plastic surrounding are different

You have to heat up the back of the mirrors, or boil them till they seperate. Then glue the USDM mirrors onto the JDM backings.

Oh. and Japan has no "OBJECTS APPEAR....." writing and dont have that special convex mirror that US drivers have.

yes the mirrors are not interchangable. but u can get new ones made by glass shops i think. i read that someone just changed out the fold motors into the usdm cover piece. it's like swapping motors! jdm motors into usdm shells

I dont think this is possible....i'll rip my mirrors out right now and verify. I can see how it could theoretically be possible, but hmmm..

Anyhow, use the JDM Black mirror plate, put the USDM Mirror/glass in it...wahlah!
