i have a jdm d15 sohc vtec in my 95 hatch, And like every one i want to make more power without doing a pricy swap. Ive heard that the d16a6 bottom end can raise compression quite abit. I searched and found nothing about it. How much could i get one for? Would it be worth it? Has anybody done it before? Would i even make any more power? I dont know anything about building motors so any insight would be good. Right now im running a p28. I have a d16y8 intake manifold intake, headers, and exhaust.
nobody say turbo, everyone always says turbo, you can get decent power from an n/a setup using stock parts, http://www.d-series.org/forums...21761,

well for the intakequestion when i did my motor swap i still had the cx intake manifold and my friends used to makefun of me because the throttle pipe was so small. i put the y8 im and throttle and noticed a huge difference but i couldnt tell u what kind of difference it would make from the d16z6 manifold.
you're at a crossroads here with your d15b.
you gotta figure out what you want the car to do, how often, and with how much power. daily driver? see the track often? etc. etc.
if you choose to stay n/a, dont expect to break world records. from my past experiences, extracting power off the d15b isn't easy, and it'll take you down the 1/4 mile in a mid-high 14. with some real crazy cams, slicks, etc etc, you might and i say might see 14.0...
if you go boost, slap on a simple greddy kit. 200whp on a stock block is possible, but you're getting close to blowin' it up. thats an easy mid 13second car.
my previous d15b setup....
92cx hatch -- light as hell
jdm d15b, intake, header... hyperducktuing.com p08 custom ecu, 11lb flywheel, exedy stage I
it was pretty fast (i was 16).... the custom ecu program has shown dyno proven 10whp.... didn't get an official time slip so dont ask... but i consistently ran my cousin's EF b16 all the way till fourth gear. he ran 15.0's all day.
WHEN i get my hatch again... i will most definitely get the d15b, again! my future plans will include boost.
hope i helped you out! save the single cam!
