i usually mix mine 50/50 coolant water. if the radiator was just drained it holds about a gallon but -9 is pretty cold. does the antifreeze container have any kind of mixing chart on it. if it does you may mix it that way. im glad i dont live where you live.

It holds about 2 gallons, from what i've read on mine. If what is already in the radiator and engine is at least a 50/50 mix you should be alright. But if there was nothing but water in there, 1/3 of a gallon is not enough. You need to get a tester (not expensive, and you can get one just about anywhere) to find out for sure. Have you drained and filled it before? What mix did you use?

The 5th Generation Accords carry 1.82 US Gallons in the Cooling System.
Assuming the recommended 50/50 mix ratio; you'd start putting 0.90% Gallon Antifreeze (If you're THAT ****) and fill the rest with water.
Most Honda purists throw a Gallon of Antifreeze in it, the rest water and call it a day.

Did you run the engine at normal operating temperature for a while, to circulate the antifreeze you just put in?

Hey P, When you drain and refill doesn't about a gallon stay in the engine? (not drain out).

I was speaking in terms of total capacity (sorry) (it's been an EXTREMELY long day ).
The Drain and Refill volume runs about 1.43 US Gallons. (According to Owners Manual)
Hummm
Looks like almost all comes out with the Baby (so to speak)

measure the strenght and see how clean the coolant looks if it is too weak, drain radiator get a 50/50 mix anti-freeze and water, loosen up the bleeder screw at t-stat housing, fill radiator till coolant comes out of bleeder , close bleeder, top off radiator ,,, let car run till warm, so coolant circulates, after it sits a bit, remove cap and retest coolant strenght if stil too low, drain some from radiator and put just coolant do not mix it this time ...rebleed system..
