95 Honda Accord slowly overheating
My 95 Honda Accord 4cyl, Non VTec blew a radiator hose a few months ago. I changed the hose and put in a new thermostat. Over the last couple of months however, it has been slowly getting hotter and hotter. You can drive it on the highway and the temp will stay just under the half way mark. But now as soon as you get off the highway and slow down in traffic it begins to overheat. The temp will slowly rise and if you stay still for too long it will red line. What I've done...Changed the thermostat again. Both radiator and condensor fan work...the radiator fan comes on and stays on after you turn the engine off (but thats because it is hot) and turns off after it cools down. Drained and flushed the cooling system (radiator is not clogged). Replaced the water pump. I'm stumped...any ideas?

Have you bleed the air out of the system? Does your heat work? Sounds like you may have an air pocket in the system.

Can't believe it! That worked! Temp guage is staying just below the half way mark. It was also rpm hunting before, now its not. One final question...The radiator fan comes on after the engine warms up and after you turn the engine off the fan turns off for a minute or so but then comes on and runs for about 10 minutes. Is this normal? or should I change the temp sensor for the fan?

When you shut the engine off and the head temp/coolant is around 200 degrees, the temp sensor in the top radiator hose nipple, turns on the cooling fans thru the fan controller unit.
This is normal and the fans can turn on up to ten minutes after the key is shut off.
However if the fans run Every Time you shut the key off regardless of the temp; that sensor inline with the top hose is probably bad.
