i just bought a 90 civic si hb and i blew the motor 3wks into the buy i didnt care cause i had my old d15 from my 92 dx layin around, it was a fresher motor so i dropped that in a week later.


now this is my problem whenever the car sits for a period of time it doesnt want to start. unless i give it gas and play around with it kinda like if it was carbuerated, anyways it eventually turns over but after 10min of cranking this isnt good for my motor plus its embarassing.

i didnt mess with them timing everything is in order has spark, fuel, etc if it didnt it wouldnt start after 10min of cranking...

whar can it be? im using stock si engine harness, si dizzy and thats it everything else is from a 92 dx can it be the tps? after the car warms up and i shut it off itll start right up so im lost ppl help me out!

Check your grounds maybe?? Not too sure after that.

i swear i see threads like this every day on here. people stating that everything is good but doesnt start, but to find out that they over looked something really obvious.

try main relay.

 

yea i searched and i said the same thing to myself but only two things popped up in this forum and it wasnt related to my problem ill look at the relay also my radio doesnt play and my sunroof doesnt work i thought it was the fuse but i changed it and still nothing it was working b4 the swap as well as the radio what can it be i got the grounds on everything is clipped on properly im lost ppk help cars my daily driver and its cold here in PA!!!!!

 

This happened to me with my old Prelude, and ended up why I sold it. I gave it to 3 diff mechanics (including a dealer) and they couldn't figure it out. The car wouldn't start if I left it off for more than 12 hours or if I ran it really hard the night before. I sold it.

New guy called me to tell me he had found the problem, leaking injectors. 2 of the injectors weren't closing properly and slowly filled the intake manifold with gasoline. He speculated that if the car was ran hard that they would stick open even worse and that's why the engine "acted like it was carbuerated" the next day.

Pull the injectors and see if they are leaking. I know it sounds stupid, but I still kick myself to this day for giving up on that Prelude.

 

my car is like that right now as far as starting one day then not starting the next..I have to take out the spark plugs and clean them off because oil gets into where they are..Once I clean the plugs off and inside where they go it starts right up..Not sure if thats your problem..

 

ok ill check the injectors but i didnt touch them at all and when the motor was in my eg it started and ran fine does anyone think it can be the tps or map sensor i noticed that my old tb has two sensors on vs the one i got in the car now only has one the tps

the other tb has tps and a map sensor but i thought my map sensor was on the firewall near the charcoal canister just ip more im lost guys!!! ima change the tb and jump for codes theres no bulb for the cel
