D16a6 head build......questions inside
Dropping off my head to get some work done. I have a crane cams and some ISKY springs going in. Gonna have them hot tank it while it's in and mill it down just a tad. I want to run 87 octane, maybe 89. Any other things you may suggest?

If you are not going to be revving above 8000 rpm you really don't need the Isky springs and retainers. I have a 1.8 d16a6 with a Gude Gorilla cam that I rev to 8600 and I used to run STOCK springs and retainers--never had a problem. The a6 valves are very small and light. I now run the Isky springs just for insurance. I still run stock retainers though. With the Isky springs the valvetrain is good to at least 9200--even with stock retainers.
I would go with the oversized valves only if you get the head ported. The bigger valve without the bowl work wouldent be much good.
