Springs and Retainers needed for the head?
i have a built ls block and a stock b16 head. Would upgrading the valvetrain(springs and retainers) needed? I am not looking at shifting at 9,000grand. What is the purpose of it really if your not going to shift really high. I am thinking i can get away with 8100 or 8200 safely? this is also turbo'd

i know that i wouldnt want to be replacing the bottom end due to old worn out valve springs that allow the valves to float @ high rpm.
i would say do it.. get the springs and retainers.
weigh the differance in price... 400 now for springs and retatiners or ..... god knows how much after your float or drop a valve ....

Go ahead and do the springs and retainers! I had the same dilemma a couple weeks ago and decided it was cheap insurance...
Well cheap compared to what damage could be caused should a failure occur...
I ended up doing the SuperTechs (thanks earl.)

Are those Rev springs and retainers good? If i do the springs, retainers, do i have to get aftermarket valves?

I am using REV springs and retainers with stock valves.. seems to be very high quality parts.... (i got new stock locks from honda aswell, probably a good idea aswell, just for insurance) PM flamenco-t for a great deal on the REV parts, this is who i got mine from, he is an awesome seller!!!

Yeah REV's seem very good...
I compared SuperTechs and REVs from the archives and both seemed top notch (I have no personal experiences yet)...
You can do just springs and retainers...I just did springs, retainers and valves just cuz the head will be off and taken apart so I figure why not?

at a local machine shop in my area(napa) we were charged about 250 for a complete valvetrain install(springs,retainers,valves..etc)
