How to relocate head unit? (its probably been asked)
I have a 98 Civic and was wondering what needs to be done to relocate the head unit to behind the cup holders. It doesnt fit perfectly when i did it and there is no brace there to keep it off the floor and to keep it from skipping. What does everyone do for this? Also where can I get a block of plate for the stock location?
hey jdmz, i had to relocated my headunit due to the keyless entry system on my car.
the unit itself doesnt fit very snuggly, but you can take off the "face plate" on the stock oem unit and it will reduce the size greatly. i wrapped mine in some cloth and duct taped it up real nice. it fits perfectly between the two supports for the climate control and doesnt dangle around much.
as for the gaping hole, i went to home depot and bought some plexiglass, cut it to size, and sprayed it black. it fits perfectly
then i added a pirelli sticker to finish it off

I used foam padding tape on my cousin's install. Even though I was able to screw the deck on both sides, it still swiveled so I used the foam pieces on top/bottom of the deck in between the deck itself and part of the bracket. I placed the foam by the front near the face plate and somewhere in the middle of the deck on either sides.
