Default Head unit options.

Iv been to quite a few stores including a tuner shop and still have yet to find a aftermarket deck / head unit frame that will correctly fit my 98 civic dx. Best buy, brand smart, ect all have what they call a “Honda kit” to make the unit trim fit but none come close. Can anyone help out with what seems to be a pretty simple problem? I have searched all over the forum using different names for what I call a head unit but still haven’t had any luck.

That exactly what I am looking for. Now are all decks just about the same standard size, Or do I need to look for a unit that will fit the frame right?

You need to look for what is called a single din head unit. That is the standard size which will fit that bracket. A double din would be something with a touchscreen for example or a very large headunit that is twice the size of normal. i would say over 80% of head units are single din which is about 2" by 7".

Cool, I just needed to be sure. I have the frame on order but would like to pickup the head unit today as the one that came in the car turns on but doesn’t switch stations, wont spit out the cd that’s in it and is pretty much useless.
