Default Building the B16

Okay, currently one of my other projects i'm assisting in is a b16 build up. The current set up is as follows:
-itr pistons
-eagle rods
-ferrea valves, springs, etc
-ctr cams

I'm aware that all of this will do quite well to increase the potential of the allready highly effective high end of this motor, but i was curious if anyone had any suggestions to improve my low end power on this particualr set up.

One thought that has come into suggestion is possibly using a venom 400, anybody have any ideas?

Thanks

theres only one way to get torque on a honda...it's called a T3/T4

Get rid of the ITR pistons. If they are they JDM pistons they will be almost the same as the stock compression, if not a little lower. Put some CTR pistons in there to get ~11.1:1.

They are JDM ITR, hence they are higher compression, yet the standard 81mm bore of the b16, CTR pistons would require boring.

eh?? CTR pistons drop right in...what do you mean require boring?

CTR and ITR or GSR or SiR pistons are all 81mm, damn all the b-series are 81mm (with exceptions of CRV b20b/z (84mm) and B21A ('old lude)

all other pistons are interchangable...ITR will give you no benefit and will require a mod in a same way as CTR (rod needs to be shaved about 1mm)

I was thinking CTR pistons were slightly oversized, i could be wrong. I know they're available oversized. It's probably one of those things that I read in a post and interpreted as fact.

Still, appreciate the pistons schooling, but what can I do to possibly increase bottom end torque. What is your suggestion?

Get a turbo or a 350.

LOL..it just doesn't work that way w/ honda's mang....

yeah, CTR pistons are usually sold as overbore because 9 out of 10 times you swap pistons you over bore, and rehone to remove any scratching from the old set.

But the stock CTR pistons are the same bore as any other B series engine.

JDM ITR pistons will lower the compression from 10.2 to 10.15. Basically you loose compression. Like I said before, get CTR if you want more compression. Bump up the compression and you'll get more torque. Oh and if you don't believe me about the compression, check it yourself. http://www.bojangs.com/calculator

IMO if you want more torque, get a B18C(1) block. Then build.

ummmmmm, turbo good choice, all motor, like SuperDragII said, it just doesn't work that way , wasting your money when eventually u will realize that u need TURBO!
yea you should get turbo, so that you will eventually realize that it is extremely more expensive to maintain a turbo and you will have to buy a couple more engines later on after blowing up your first one with a turbo.

umm no ctr pistons would not require boring unless there is a difference between 81 mm and 81 mm. I too would recommend ctr pistons if you want more torque. oh and you definitely dont need a t3/t4 to run fast, at least not in my book. And for all you non believers out there I drive a 94 hatch full interior with ac and my best time so far is 12.2 @ 110mph and my car dynoed in @ 225 at the wheels. Oh and also it was on pump gas from chevron and a stock ecu with no upgraded electronics. (ALL MOTOR)

if you want more torque, get a stroker kit or a 1.8 or 2.0 block. you will need more displacement.

They might if you need to do a little boring and honing to get an acceptable surface for the rings to seal to. That's what the other guy was trying to say. Guys with closed deck blocks NEVER go with stock sized pistons because they can get a better seal and a few more cubic inches by boring. By the way, while he's got the motor apart boring only costs like $25 a cylinder.

Oh, and I'm sure running a 12+ to 1 allmotor engine to 9k is gonna be good for it too. If you build the motor and don't run lean the engine will NOT blow.
