Trumpet-like noise coming from intake manifold?
Ok, say I rev my engine in neutral at a dead stop, when the idle goes back down and drops to normal, I hear a noise come from the intake tube, kind of like a flute. it's not a continous noise, more like a couple of blips and then it stops. Then I took off my intake pipe and turned the engine back on. When I open the throttle a little bit and close it, after it closes I can hear the noise and if I put my hand in the tb I can feel a little bit of air blow out of the tb when it makes the noise Anyone know what this could be? valves? intake backfire? etc?

I forgot to mention that I was spraying a single fogger wet nitrous system when this started happening. Do you think it might be fuel or carbon build up around the throttle plate that could be letting air out of the tb when the plate closes? I really don't know. I'm just throwing out ideas.
You think a vacuum leak could be causing this? Where would be the common places to look for this? I thought a vacuum leak would cause air to suck in, not blow out of the throttle body. And do you think I would be losing power because of this?

Somone please correct me if i'm wrong cause i hate the noise also.
I have a AEM intake also and it makes a "whistling / flute" sound when I accelerate (not just rev). I've been told it is very common with B series motors with AEM intakes. *shruggs* doesn't seem to hurt anything just annoying. Make shift turbo! hah!
If it is carb build up someone please let me know so I can take of this..

spray where the block and the intake manifold meet
ignore the little bit of air that comes out of the TB. its probably unrelated.

Ok, some people are mistaking me. IT's not the whistling sound that the air filter makes under acceleration or when sucking in air. That's normal. I'm talking about a small burst of air that comes out of the tb after the throttle plate closes causing a flute like noise. Imagine a person blowing into a bottle.

Sounds like your Idle Air Control Valve is just taking care of business. On some intakes (like mine) it sort of resonates for a second or two. On mine, it's especially noticeable when I blip the throttle ever so slightly. You can see the passage for it on the throttle body *in front* of the butterfly, so air is not escaping around the butterfly itself. As my revs drop from 1000-700 rpms or so, it makes a weird little sound like a flute or bell or something. I'd say it's nothing to worry about.
Yeah the noise occurs under 1000 rpm. Also, is it normal for a small puff of whitish gray smoke to blow out of the tailpipe when the engine switches into VTEC? Do you think it's because I'm running without a muffler, meaning my tailpipe is open at the axle?
