i have a 99 Civic EX with the basic bolt ons. I/H/E, AEM fpr, MSD cap and coil, and a ZEX 55 shot. I will be going turbo this summer and be switching over to a p28 ECU and hondata.

My question is, with my present mods, will switching over to the p28 (stockw/out hondata) now give me better performance than with my current ECU?

eww becareful with that MSD and your ECU. I've had some people tell me about issues they had with their ECU going south because of the MSD box, probably due to user-install -- not the MSD box itself.

Better performance?
I'd say its easier-to-tune-performance if you go the OBD1/P28 route, but not exactly better performance. OBD2 ECU's aren't bad performance-wise. they only suck because OBD2 ecu's aren't that popular to reprogram, because of the onboard hardware those ecu's use.

the only 'better' performance you'll really gain is enrichened fuel maps (yes your gas mileage will go down if you're getting the mugen program for P28 ecu) which in turn will make your car feel more responsive when you get on the throttle; and a higher redline -- which is good if you have upgraded camshafts and kinda bad if you have stock cams still, and your the annoying rev happy-type.

a higher redline is, logicaly, only needed if you have upgraded cams; to take advantage of the raised powerband which the cams offer.
