question about RMS power and speakers
Hi guys, i bought a power acoustik amp (model OV4-800, itīs a 85x4 RMS) i also bought a set of infinity 6.5 speakers (6012i, 60 rms tops, 180 peak power, sensitiviy 92 Db), my rear speakers are 6x9 infinity and they handle 110 rms.
My question, iīm worried that my front speakers (the 6.5) canīt hadle the 85 RMS (if the amp really puts that off course), so, what can i do to make sure that i wonīt blow my front speakers? ( i canīt buy anything else, this is all i have and i have no money left for this).
thanks

You should have no problem, run the fronts high pass and the rears full range if your not running a sub, if you are running a sub, run the rears high pass also.

Realistically you could have an amp that put out 300 watts per channel rms and keep the gain down, not a problem. You usually want to match the amp to the speakers because it's pointless to pay for the extra power but 15 watts rms is no big deal. Just keep the gain down. My infinity kappa's are supposed to handle something like 90 watts rms but i have an alpine feeding 50 watts rms per channel and the gain is only half way up before they clip.
i know exactly what you guys mean, this is the same thing i tought, but i wanted to ask just to make sure.
Thanks for your answers guys!
really helpfull
