GS-R swap gets no spark....
I have a EG hatch that recently recieved fresh B18C. Replaced the Jspec harness with an OBD1 vtec harness. The car will turn over, it gets fuel....but gets no spark, at all! I have usumptions on that it has something to do with the distributor. Possibly that the wiring in the Jspec Disr. is different than on a USDM harness. Could someone please give me an insight on what might be causing this problem.
Was it an OBD1 engine, so you just plugged in the distributor?
There is not difference in the wiring or functions of an OBD1 JDM distributor and a US OBD1.
Have you check a spark plug wire for spark at the wire to be certain you are not getting any spark? Maybe you are getting spark, and your timing is off or plug wires on wrong?
If all seems correct there, it is probably a bad ignitor or coil and the ignitor seems to go bad more than coils. The supplier of your engine should gladly swap distributors with you since you just got it.
Also -as always. Double check all your grounds. Three main ones to check -thremostat housing, transmission, valve cover -make sure all are grounded!

i had the same problem...people said it was the distributor but it just turned out one of the plugs wasnt hooked into my wiring harness properly...just my situation hope it helps..
Thank you very much you all for the help. I did some troubleshooting in the ignition system and found out that it was the Coil Pack in the distributor. According to a few of the high end performance shops in the area it is a common problem with imported engines so this should be insight on anyone who can start there swapped motor. Thank you all again. (Always check the little things

Could not having good grounds on all three of those points cause there to be NO spark at ALL?
I ask because I think my valve cover ground isn't done right, my fault
