I do not own nor do I know how to use a timing light. I'm slappin' a Dizzy King distributor on my B16 tomorrow. What's the worse case scenario for drivin' my car until someone with some know how can set the dizzy timing with a light?

Stock motor, you wont notice anything.

Fully built and completely tuned to that exact timing..... boom (worse case senerio of course).

^what he said

but just make sure the top is not all the way toward the firewall, this is the danger side of the adjustment where you're advancing the timing.

put it 2/3 towards the front (top towards front of car) and take it to a shop to have timing set

you could notice a world of a difference if timing is off...whether stock or not.

too much timing= detonation or the engine fighting itself
too much negative= less power, more unburnt fuel, low vacuum, etc

slap it on and put it in the middle. Find a decent shop/dealership to time it. If the car's warmed up, should only take about 2 minutes to set it

Cool thanks, until I get it into a shop I'm gonna mark the dizzy and engine with a chalk line and line them up. Another Marine told me that works to get it close to start.

just go buy a timing light at sears for like $30... its real easy point it at your crank pulley and move the dizzy to where it needs to be.
