Default Will a 92-95 B16A2 pass NY emissions installed in a 2000 Si?

First off, this might be a stupid question, but please bear with me. I really need a straight answer. I have an OBD1 B16A2 long block I bought a while back from Hmotorsonline that I was planning to swap into my 91 hatch. Well I still have the block and head from the motor, and I was wanting to swap it into my 2000 Si. I blew the motor in it, and I need a replacement. I know that this may seem like a dumb question, but I've never had to deal with emissions inspections before, and I've definitely never swapped a motor before. I was wondering if I could just swap in the block and head from the 92-95 B16A2, and use the ECU from my Si. Thanks for any help anyone can give.

what harness are you gonna use, the one from the car or the one from the engine?

federal regulation says you must use an engine of the same year or newer to be straight. what is actually broken on your engine? if you drop in the EG B16, you should pull every outside component off your EM B16 and install it on your EG B16 if you want everything to be as close to stock as it can be. That way, they will not know any better.

I would use whichever harness would make it work. And as far as using parts off of my EM B16, I have no problem doing that.

if new york is anything like mass, if your car is obd2 then the computer has to stay obd2, it will also throw a vin mis-match when they plug it in, if you have a different computer. I talked to the field investigator while doing research for a swap and he said that if I tell the inspection place first, and don't mind explaining myself to the registry if they call, and have all the recipts, I'd be fine. kinda sucks, in CA they have some kind of BAR test you can do , but again, the motor has to be as new or newer than the car. hope that helps

yes, in california, once you change the engine, you are SUPPOSED to go get the car BAR'd. they check the engine, car, computer and all the other stuff. but federal standards still require a replacement engine to be the same year or newer. but if you dont mod the car too much or make it obvious, and put everything back where it is supposed to be...nobody would know any better.
