Possible master cylinder/bearing/clutch failure? Please give advice...
My clutch seems to engage at different heights. Sometimes it will engage when the pedal is like 1'' from the floor, sometimes - when the pedal is 3/4 up (normal, I think). It does not seems to slip at all. Car is 01 GS-R with 67000miles and the original clutch/transmission. Transmission fluid was replaced 7000 miles ago, but this problem first appeared 1 week ago. The car is still under warranty (extended). Please give me your takes on this problem.
I first suspected the throwout bearing, but after some searching, I think the culprit is the master cylinder. What do you guys think?
Thank you in advance,
Nick

Sounds like air in your clutch line somewhere. Could be caused by a bad master. Stick your hand up under your dash and feel at the top of your clutch pedal and see if you get any dot3 on your fingers. Mine is leaky as hell making my clutch feel really sloppy. Check your reservoir and make sure its not dry. That'll let tons of air into your clutch system. If its empty, fill it and bleed it!
i had the exact same problem...my problem was the release bearing...so i just bought a clutch kit and replaced it all, but u should try changing ur clutch slave cylinder... thats what handles all the pressure not the master cylinder..and bleed it real good
