Car vibrates while driving, NEED HELP ASAP!! PLEASE!!
THIS IS NOT A BRAKE PROBLEM....
as i was driving, i noticed these things happening...
weather:rainy/wet roads
-i feel a vibration thru the wheel....almost like i'm running over a lot of tall bumps...not enough to be chaotic, yet enough to shake my wheel/arm a bit....
-seems to come from the front left (but as i'm in the drivers seat, thats the closest side to me...could be both sides)
-doesnt seem apparent when i'm accellerating uphill....seems smooth as usual...
-smooth until about 40 mph +....then the vibration comes into play
-i checked tire psi...everything is good on that...and no signs of any nails/etc in the tire
-NOT A BRAKE PROBLEM...this is when my foot is on the gas casually driving down the road
-no clicking sounds (familiar to cv joints, ball joint, etc)
-seems that there is a loud, deep "thump" sound coming from the front left tire...
if ANYONE has any idea what could be up, pleas let me know...these symptoms never occured before, i havent had my car long, and i'm hopeing maybe its just how it sounds/performs in the rain...traction was still good, braking was still good...
i'm riding on 17" Axis wheels, with new Kuhmo Ecsta tires 205/40/17
thank you for your time!

no, i havent checked out anything..i'm riding on some crappy Ractive coilovers..no idea how long they've been on there or how much abuse they've seen...i'm gentle on them...
ride height isnt crazy, maybe a 2-2.5" drop...alignment is good...

Check the inside and outside of the front left tire for bulges or flat spots. The "thud" sound suggests it's a tire/wheel problem, as opposed to a bearing problem. There is also a chance that your wheel is bent (or otherwise off balance). Try driving with a different wheel/tire on that corner if possible. It will help you determine where the problem is.

Did you wheels come with some sort of hub ring / spacer? I remember one time I took off a set of rims and put the factory wheels back on the car, w/o remembering to take off the spacers and the wheels had wobbling symptoms like that...otherwise it sounds like a tire prob or bent rim..

to eliminate the wheels/tires as the source of the problem, rotate the front wheels to the back and see if the problem moves to the rear. if not, it's not the wheels/tires.

Sounds like a wheel bearing or axle. Get up to speed when it starts to shake/vibrate and push in the clutch. If it stops vibrating it is not related to load on the engine(axle). If you still heard/feel the vibration it is most likely related to the wheels or some other suspension part.

If you have a halfshaft (b swap etc) that could possibly be bent, unbalance wheel, or hard spots on tire. Like people are saying, eliminate one thing at a time. Rotating tires would be simplest first step.

Yes but their 8 year old responses helped me figure out my prob without clogging up the forums with a new thread
Thought I had incorrectly installed my front sway bar or had a bad wheel bearing....turned out to be a fat lumpy tire
