Default My project and Questions. (DONE)

I'm currently working on mounting my new fans as pushers. And i have a few questions. I'm also going to be boosted soon and could use any help full hints on what to do NOW since i have my bumper off. BTW i will be installing a PWR intercooler if that helps.

What is this ? And will i have to take it off when i install my intercooler?

Is this necessary? It has a couple of chips already in it.

I got into a 5-10mph fender bender about 6 months ago, and since then my bumper was pushed down, which made my headlights look down to. And with this installation i thought i could fix that problem, so does it look like my bumper support is pushed down?

My current project.

So any help full tips on what i could do before my turbo project and intercooler starts.
I wish i could pre-cut my support but i don't have the intercooler yet. Also i was thinking of giving my headlights a nice wax. Thanks in Advance.

EDIT

Finally got done last night. I managed to fix my bumper somewhat, better then before. I think i saved alot of room by switching out my fans, now i should have plenty of room for the intake on my turbo!!!! Thanks for the help, heres pics.

Wheres the HID kit??

As for the bumper lens brackets, it really depends on the size of the intercooler you will be installing. I had the Drag3 supplied one and I had to remove them. I also cut out the "grille" part of the bumper.

Some people have kept it on, but personally, I haven't found a way to do it. They just trimmed the grille area a little. My intercooler was flush right against the bumper, so there was no extra room. Once I took off the brackets (or rather cut them out, because removing the grill got rid of the mount that the brackets attached to), I couldn't really figure out a way to mount the turn signals back in. I eventually zip tied them on, but after a while, I just left them off.

I also removed the bumper styrofoam. I believe it just keeps the bumper's general shape if there was a little accident. Useless to me. I'm a perfect driver.

Lemme find some pics for you. Your bumper support does look a little bent down. Can you bend it back up? Maybe put a jack under there? I dunno.

EDIT: Some pics....

You can kinda see the intercooler wedged right up against the front bumper. Also note my lack of turn signals.

Here's my bumper support. I would take some more picture for you to show you the angle of it, but unfortunately, I haven't owned this car for a long time now. These are the only pictures I have left. Don't you wish you had cool ricer air horns like me?

Flush against bumper.

^^^^ thanks for the help, i hope i can retain my grille with my intercooler. But wont know untill i get it. As far as the support, i was gonna try and use a jack to see if i can push back up. I will let you know if it works. The PWR intercooler is 22x8x3 core and the add the length of endtanks to that, so like 28".

Any one else?

Those measurements look to be the same or SLIGHTLY larger than my Drag one. You may have some difficulty fitting it without cutting. Perhaps try mounting it further back on the support beam. The face of my intercooler was flush with the front of the beam.

kinda on your own with the support man, unless you can maybe heat it up and pound the hell out of it, the jack might have been the thing i tried also.

here are a few pics of my IC install... (JRC 8")

basically the only way the intercooler is mounted to the frame, is by two L-brackets that i flatened out, used on of the already present holes at one end, connected it to the hole where the undergaurd bolts to, and the other end of the bracket, i bolted to the bottom of the intercooler where it already had threads present. this may not work for you PWR as i'm not sure if it has the threaded pieces on the bottom and top of the IC.... if you look closely as each side on the underide of the IC, you can see the brackets.

here is what i had to cut out to get the IC to fit along with the charge pipes. the only place where it hits is in the middle of the splash piece that's connected to the bumper (look closely on the middle spoke where it's rubbed/shiney, that hits the bottom of the IC, but just barely.)

you can see here the space between the actual grill of the bumper and how far back the IC sits. since i didn't hack up or get rid of the bumper support, that is literally the only reason that it hits the under splash piece that is connected to the bumper, but it's virtually unnoticable unless you got under the car and looked or i told you.

this is the final outcome of what it looks like. i'm pretty pleased with how well it fits, looks, and how little i had to actually cut off the bumper.

Hmmmm.....that car looks very familiar. I remember seeing it parked on McCulloch quite often. Not too many 4 door Tegs around Havasu....especially that clean.

I had a bent bumper support and tried the jack thing to fix it, but like you I had no luck. I even tried a torch with the jack and nothing changed. I would try shims to align the bumper if it throws it off that much. That's what I did and it seemed to work very well. Did this project ever get started/finished? I'd love to see some pictures.

Air horns bleh, I have a bimmer horn in mine haha.

Have you tried taking off the bumper support yet, or just bending it back up?
Not sure if you said anything about taking it off or not, might not of read enough.
But by taking it off, I mean taking it off to see whats holding it down or bend
anything else you can on the back, not completely take it off.

The final pics are posted under the first ones, do you live in Havasu?? If so we should meet up, because HT is the only place i can talk about cars.

I bought fans from B18bturbo, $60 each. I had to do alot of modifications to make them fit but IMO they look alot nicer and free up alot of room for the turbo build.

Yeah i took off the support to see what was going on, but i couldnt really see what was making it push down. Anyways i left out the foam in front of the support and that helped alot. I also just recently adjusted my headlights just right, so now i can see good at night. Thanks for the help guys.
