Springs....Is it possible?.............
Is it possible to put the rear springs on the front and vise-versa?
I'm asking this as I recently got a set of lowering springs fitted to my Civic (96) and the front does not look like it is lowered at all and the back is lowered a hell of a lot! I know some springs lower the front more than the back, so I'm wondering if they could be on the wrong way?
Any ideas?

Yes, it is possible for you to put them on backwards. Usually the longer ones go on the back, and the shorter ones go up front. Look to see if they anything written on them.

The longer ones go in the front. Think about it, the front of the car is heavier, so the longer springs goes in the front.
Okay - which is it?
I can't really tell which ones are longer but the springs in the rear have about 7 coils where as the front springs have about 13 (with each coil closer and about 3 or 4 together on the top).
Thanks for your replies

Not necessarily. The fronts are usually linear springs and are closer together due to higher spring rates. And the backs are usually progressive with the first few coils being far apart from each other, thus making the back springs longer than the fronts.
Think about it.
Think about it.
Still none the wiser?
Obviously longer does not always mean stronger, but I think the longer spring is in the front (about 13 coils) and the shorter (about 7 coils) in the rear.
C'mon there has to be somebody with a Civic coupe that knows this?

I didn't fit them myself - but the front spring has more coils and looks longer than the rear. The front does not look like it is lowered much at all, where as the rear is sitting very low.
Well on my 99Si, I used to have RS*R springs and the rears were longer than the fronts. The rears had a few springs very close together and then the rest were regularly spaced, and there were more coils. Now the fronts were spaced evenly, but the spring itself was slightly shorter than the backs, and they had fewer coils. More than likely you have them backwards. Just reverse them. I'm telling you this from experience. When I did my very first spring install I did the same thing. I assumed the same thing, that the shorter ones would go on the back. Also make sure that the springs are specifically for your car. If not then your drop could be off because they were meant for a different car.

here are some pics of my ITR spring install.
the stock springs on both the Civic Si and ITR, have the taller ones in the front, and shorter ones in the rear.

Thanks for the pics!
After looking at them I think that my set-up is right, I think the front does not look as if it was lowered because the back is sitting so low - but from looking at your pics the gap at the front seems to be similar
