Default Tbelt wont loosen up ....

Im trying to loosen up the timing belt so i can get my head off. I loosened up the adjuster nut, but i cant get any slack off of it. It seems pretty tight. IS there some special way to loosen it up?? thanks... Responses greatly appreciated.

Do you know if the JDM H22 had the manual tensioner pulled off the H23, or if it's still running the auto tensioner?

since youre gonna have to pull the autotensioner off anyway, go ahead and take it off....

if you cant reach it yet, just try to wiggle it off the gears w/o ruining it...

Then IIRC just pop out the autotensioner. They're junk anyways. It should give you the slack you need.

two bolts hold the auto tensioner to the block. unbolt it and install it in trashcan.

ok...everyone is right, but the thing is you can get to any bolts or any part of the tensioner without takeing OFF the lower timing cover, the one that CANT be taen off without the crank being removed. Thats were my dilemma comes in, i cant get the crank pulley of just yet. My engines on a engine stand and theres no way to get a grip on it and take it off at the same time.

get the honda tool that holds the pulley in place while you remove the bolt. you're going to have to get it off to put the belt back on. i thought i heard of another way to get it off, let me search really quick and i'll get back to you...
